Foster dog program at See Spot Run

See Spot Run Doggy Daycare and Training Inc. (http://www.seespot-run.com/) in SW Edmonton offers a special service to regular daycare clients who also foster dogs for rescue groups while they wait to find their forever home. As long as they pass the suitability assessment, foster dogs can come to daycare for free. Once they are adopted by a forever home, the owners get a discount for the first 6 months for both daycare and training classes to help with the transition into their new home. Anneli (owner of See Spot Run) rescued Porter, a white shepherd, from NASAP and has a soft spot for rescues. Having to deal with severe separation anxiety issues with Porter, it is important to Anneli to help the foster and forever homes adjust to their new lives. Many rescue dogs have issues that make them difficult to adopt which why they are in foster homes. It is the hope of many rescue organizations that by fostering a dog in a positive environment that any issues they may have can be retrained or managed so that the dogs can find new forever homes rather than being euthanized. Doggy daycare provides an outlet for energy, improves dog socialisation skills and helps them to learn everyday manners in a positive environment.
